Do you ever get to a point where you feel well rested?
I can take a long shower, nap, whatever but as soon as I'm back into parenting mode/work I'm back to that stressed out/pressure feeling. |
| No. I honestly feel that parenting is like when people train as medical residents, they do these 36 hour shifts so they learn how to function on very little sleep. |
| Yes, but only on beach vacations when we have no plans but to avoid the kitchen and not get a sunburn. If I’m home I’m always reminded of things I have to do. |
|
I had a good laugh at this post. Nope. As kids get older and more self-sufficient, there are new problems. Plus you become part of the "sandwich generation" so if you aren't worried about your kids, your parents will do you in. Either health issues, hiding health issues, money issues, .... it never f'ing ends.
This is where the pandemic has left me. Oy vey. |

I’m pretty sure my friends with elementary kids are well rested. They aren’t that old yet and kids are self sufficient and no longer needy.
At some point, kids start stressing you out again when they hit adolescence. My older kids are 10 and 12. If we only had them, we would be extremely well rested. We also have a 4yo though who keeps us very busy. |
This is so true. I’m a sahm and I feel I should be more relaxed but I’m not. My parents have so many health problems. They often stress me out more than my children. |
| We vacation with my siblings and their children, 8 kids in total. We do some activities (beach etc), but mostly the kids just bug off and entertain each other for an entire week, and the adults get to relax. We rotate meal prep/pickup duties. It's amazingly relaxing...it's almost as if humans were not meant to raise children in nuclear family isolation. |
| So far, no. Kid is 4, I am 41. I don’t see this improving! |
Same but only 6 kids. We've done this for 10+ years and love our trips. Now that mine are both teens, I'm pretty relaxed. I sleep as much as I want and don't really worry about them too much. Oldest just got into college, so that feels like a major milestone we've accomplished. |
| Yes, most mornings. |
|
I mean, yes, I occasionally have that morning or day where I am full of energy and sunshine. When that happens I start looking over my shoulder bc that’s usually when someone gets sick or a colleague suddenly leaves or etc.
i pretty much can fall asleep at a moment’s notice, anywhere. My entire family including my kids makes fun of me esp when i tell them THEY ARE THE REASON I AM ALWAYS TIRED. Lol |
| My kids are both in college this year and, yeah, I'm starting to get some good sleep. |
| When my kids were 5 and 8 they finally had a good sleep routine and most of the time they sleep like logs, so I feel a lot more rested. I still have to run around for their school and activities, but the sleep situation is so much better. |
This is me as well. It sucks. |

Kid started sleeping through the night with no breaks at all at 11 months.. I've done okay since then.
