I guess vision isn’t your strength.

And knowledge or tact yours. . .

if you can get inside the courtyards of the yale residential colleges - and I think you might only walk through one of them on a tour - they're pretty dreamy. Oxford rip off, sure, but a v good one.

Pepperdine. Ok buildings. But you can’t beat that view.

Kidding right? It is bisected by an interstate and is pretty ugly otherwise

If a college wasn't founded in the 1800s or earlier, chances are it shouldn't be on this list. There are always exceptions but generally newer schools like JMU just don't have charm.

Northwestern and Columbia were dismal.

Agreed! Just look, for example, at their crappy libraries! 🙄

Are you willing to show the office park angles all across northwestern?
I don’t know how the other poster didn’t like Columbia, but god northwestern is super ugly if you don’t like glass everywhere.

We saw Branford on our tour - it was gorgeous! These kids are so lucky!

Maybe i toured the wrong residential college, but I didn’t find Saybrook or Pauli Murray nice. Just a difference in personal tastes I’m sure, not like the kids are suffering.

What have you seen that is nicer than Saybrook or Pauli Murray?

DP. Totally disagree. It’s a lovely campus.

Lovely like GMU or Christopher Newport, maybe. Not lovely like older schools. Have you toured LACs, even the ones in VA like Richmond and W&L? I guess it's a taste thing but there are places with much more classic looks.

Agree to disagree. I found W&L to be pretty, but wasn’t impressed with Richmond. A school doesn’t have to be old to be beautiful.

The other elite colleges DD toured at and enjoyed: Uchicago, Princeton, Berkeley
