I used to think Dr. Drew was just too lazy to watch the episodes and was a bad host. Now I think he's a dangerous host, especially with the pro-safe sex messages he spits out. It makes him look trustworthy, yet he clearly supports this dangerous, controlling relationship and pushes Barb to "give Jace back." I actually met Dr. Drew many years ago and worked directly with him setting up a discussion panel on teen/young adult health issues at my university. He was very knowledgeable and down-to-earth, and gave solid advice, even if the people asking the questions didn't like the answers (they basically wanted to be told that binge drinking until blackout every weekend was probably okay). He even talked about healthy relationships and encouraged one person to get out of the relationship they described because it was unhealthy and obsessive!

If he watched even one episode with only Jenelle's segments, he would see that that's the advice she needs to hear from an "expert," and that there are young women watching who could be in a similar situation. MTV really blows its own horn that these shows impact the teen pregnancy rate (questionable at best). But if we give them that credit, we should also look at the domestic violence rate among young people--this is how it begins. Jenelle is freaking ON STAGE in the middle of an interview and David is texting her to tell her what to do. Why would she even take her phone out there with her? (unless it was staged, which is also a possibility).

+1

I do not think the phone bit was staged. That's really who David is. The only staged bit is Jenelle's fake cries.

I love that this thread has 70 pages... because when I'm talking among friends about bad TV that we all watch and I say Teen Mom they think I'm nuts.

Shhhhh, your secret is safe with us. Here, have a bowl of cold soup from a can, dip your pizza in ranch dressing, and enjoy some carrot cake for dessert.

+2 to the bolded. She brought the phone out so David could stage-manage her every move. Talk about the elephant in the room. It's going to be more of the same domestic violence unfortunately in Jenelle's future. Dr. Drew is an addiction specialist and clearly has no expertise on relationships. He only cares that she's not abusing drugs anymore, not whether she's actually "stable" in the sense of being self-sufficient (and it's obvious she's not really).

Also found it interesting that Cole refused to appear with Chelsea - why? Methinks we are going to be seeing less and less of her life from here on out.

I think Chelsea had mentioned before that Cole wasn't a big fan of being taped.

It struck me as not very supportive, especially with her being sick and looking so miserable.

I could see that. But I also think Cole just hates being taped, and doesn't feel comfortable, and said "Do I have to?" and Chelsea, caring for him as much as she does, said it was fine not to, and so he didn't. Maybe she didn't feel like she needed the support of him going out there with her, since she's been doing it for so long. Maybe she didn't care. Maybe she wanted him to, but wanted him to want to, so she didn't push it. I think their relationship looks healthy enough that I'm willing to give them both the benefit of the doubt. We don't know what was said off-camera between the two of them on the subject. I definitely think she is on her way out, but I don't think it's Cole pushing her out when she'd rather stay. I think she's just gotten to a point in her life where she's really happy, she has $$ saved, and she just doesn't need this anymore.

Jenelle's custody case for Jace was finally settled today. She did not win, thank god! An agreement was created to allow her more visitation.

Thank goodness. Jenelle has to understand that's what's best for Jace. He was raised by Barb for heavens sake. Jenelle has had what, 20 some arrests since he's been born, two other children with two other men, a revolving door of homes in different towns. She may be "better" than her heroin days with Kieffer but that is a low bar. Barb isn't perfect but she's stable and consistent and she is what he knows as home. Perhaps Jenelle regrets not being a more involved parent from the beginning (though I doubt it, I think this is just a power play intended to hurt and embarrass Barb) but that's what happens when you sign over custody and bail on the hard work. You don't come back in at age 8 and say ok I can take it from here.

That is exactly what she was doing. Jace definitely needs the stability of Barb. Jenelle and her new man every year is not going to provide the stability that child so desperately needs.

Briana from TM3 is joining TM2!
I loved her storyline so I'm happy that they're bringing her back.
I think this also makes it more likely that this will be Chelsea's last season.
