Accepted is the same as unconnected. Not accepted, apparently the school calls you and it’s a conversation so you’re not caught off guard.

Thanks for this. Would they have called by now? Or is it closer to the date?

For a sibling? My only experience is applying a sibling early decision for kinder and finding out in early December. Does your school not offer that? Or is this a different entry point?

Ours is at a UPK. Everyone has been very nice to us throughout the process. We get nice responses to thank yous. Both our tour and interview went twice as long. Everyone was nice at the diversity night event. After her playdate the admissions team said nice things to us. We'll see.

The admissions team emailed you after the playdate?

They responded to our thank you note with something small and positive about her in the room.

No idea then. Hopefully someone else can answer your question.

It appears that we may have the good fortune of receiving offers from Trinity and Dalton for kindergarten. Daughter is bright and loves school. Seems to have an emerging interest in STEM, but she is 4, who knows where she will go as she gets older. Logistically, both schools are convenient to us.

Would appreciate the group's opinions. The prior posts have been helpful to us - any fresh comments appreciated.

Is your kid a summer birthday by chance? Since you mentioned she’s still 4

How do you know you have offers? They both send out on 2/5? We are at a completely unconnected school and have applications in at both too. Following this thread.

I mean her kid could also be turning 5 in February? Kind of a jump to assume she has a summer bday...

We are very happy at Dalton. We have friends who are very happy at Trinity. Both are excellent options, I would go with your gut at this point. That being said, I will be surprised if you ultimately get into both. Your PSD has not asked you to rank them yet? These schools all collude - they want to keep their yields up!

We live in Brooklyn which for us would be logistically convenient to both the UES and UWS for these schools

Our preschool director will have us pick one or the other, so we'll need to make our choice next week in advance of the notification date.

I know we would love both, but I have a feeling that Dalton will be the better choice for us. Can you comment on whether Dalton differentiates for math and reading early on? I recall hearing they do for math but not sure of the former.

At Trinity, we heard that differentiation is only for reading - not sure how long this goes on. Perhaps all of elementary?

Is your daughter some sort of math savant? Why do you need her to differentiate for math.

Yes, Dalton has differentiation for math and reading. For reading, it started in K. For math, I think it started in first grade.

"Seems to have an emerging interest in STEM" -- this is gold. Lol. Like an old UB post. Miss those days.

Lol. Her kid is doing Russian Math so I think the PP is allowed to say “emerging interest in STEM”.
