Prime time is crime time.

Just the thing I need to distract me from my dental crown replacement next week!

So they gave themselves this week to work on presentations for next week, and suddenly found they had more material and needed an extra hearing. An important one at that, worthy of prime time.

Does this mean Cipollone has agreed to appear for live testimony???

Good. Let's hope he's forthcoming and further implicates Meadows, Giuliani and Trump.

Unfortunately he’s too much on a wimp to have his testimony recorded, it’s a “transcribed testimony.” What a jerk.

BUT...

... that's how Cassidy Hutchinson started, with recorded testimony. And then she switched her Trump-paid lawyer to a normal one, and agreed to the live hearing.

Who is Cipollone's lawyer????

Who knows, we may yet induce him to speak at a live hearing!!!

Repped by Mike Purpura, former Deputy WH Counsel under Trump, who I presume is advising Cipillone to take an extremely expansive interpretation of executive privilege. He was part of the first impeachment defense team.

Panda painting zoom room guy - Eric whatshisname - was on the first Trump impeachment team, too, and he has been very helpful.

His name is simply Panda Man

Right, but is he paid by Trump-associated people, is the question. All the witnesses are Republicans and the last worked in the White House, so such baggage does not automatically mean they wish to weasel their way out of facts.

It’s safe to sssume Cipillone can probably afford to retain his own counsel. And I wouldn’t count on effusive cooperation. He will hind behind executive privilege and testify as to what he observed but not much else given that he potentially could have criminal exposure.

I don't think Cipollone can give much testimony b/c he and Meadows seem to have crimed too.

But at what point do the odds get recalculated? The boat is listing badly and at some point people will jump and try to make the bast deal possible. Cipillone is not looking for elective office so doesn’t need Trump’s endorsement. He probably has a lot else to lose though.

If I was him, given the sinking ship nature of the election fraud and attempted coup group, I would hasten to spill the beans on higher ups while glossing over any potentially criminal actions on my part.

I don't actually believe this person has done anything criminal or that he will be professionally damaged by hiding other people's criminal actions. Quite the contrary, given the changing winds. However, he may well fear physical reprisal from a crazed MAGA.

He's trying to start a new big-time law firm that does not rely on conservative grift. He, and his partners, have a lot to lose if he does not cooperate.

If he’s concerned about a grand jury subpoena he needs to hold out for an immunity deal with DOJ. Better to negotiate an agreement with the J6 Committee to limit the scope of his testimony than have a transcript littered with assertions of a Fifth Amendment or executive privilege. And it’s cleaner to deal with the executive privilege with DOJ as opposed to in a separation of powers context.

Prime time? Oooh, that sounds big.

Luke Broadwater of the NYT thinks this is going to be about the three-hour delay getting assistance to the Capitol Police.
