| Would you let your DD junior in high school go to the 930 club for a concert with friends? A Girl in Red is performing. Never heard of them and never been to the 930 Club, so any info would be appreciated. TIA. |

I think it depends on the kid, how they will get there, have they been to a concert before, etc.
Having been down there myself I would say no... not for my 16 yo daughter. |

Only day concerts for my teens.

Yes but I'd check and make sure it was a show that admitted under 18s (not all do) and have several conversations about transportation, drinking, how to handle a crowd that might get rowdy. I wouldn't be super intense about it, but I'd want to hear explanations for how she'd handle certain situations and make sure I'd also want her to be checking I periodically (and be okay with me texting periodically to see how it was going).
But 16 is about the age where I actually think it's good to allow stuff like this so that they build independence and problem solving skills in these environments. They are so close to adulthood. You can't just wait until they turn 18 and hope for the best. They need to develop these skills like they would anything else. It's scary at first but then gets easier, like most aspects of parenting. |

I think it's fine if you drop off and pick up right after it's over. I've been going to 9:30 for over 20 years (started when I was 17), and I find you can only really get into trouble hanging around outside, IMO.
Girl in Red is playing at Coachella, so it's probably new-ish teen band, and safe in terms of the crowd it draws. |
Case in point, GinR reviewed by NPR -- can't be super wild. https://www.npr.org/2021/05/02/992846107/marie-ulven-talks-tiktok-fame-sexuality-and-her-new-album |
| I think it's fine. Depending on where I lived I might drive and hang out in my car nearby during the concert, just to avoid the waiting for Uber mess after a concern |
| Depends on how she was getting there, but totally, yes. |
| I started going to 930 in the old location at age 14, so I think it’s fine. |
|
I went to the OG one when I was 12.
Your kid will be fine OP. |
| I vote no. Would be Ok with a concert at Capital One, Merriweather Pavilion etc, but just not comfortable with 930 club and most likely general admission. Especially for a first concert. |
Without parents? Wow.... |
| Of course it’s fine. Just arrange a carpool to get them there and back. Mine have been going for ages, although it’s usually a band I want to see as well (but I always promise not to stand by them). |
| I would, but we live in the city and my kids are pretty independent within the city. But I think it depends on your individual situation and your kids' maturity and exposure to the city. |
