Person after person fantasizing about kicking dogs, punching them, beating them with bats. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1034588.page
These people are sick and they flock to the pets forum. People think the politics forum is toxic = spend five unhappy seconds in pets sometime. |
| The premise of the thread is "How to stop a charging dog", and there's nothing wrong with that. (though not what I would want to read on a Pets forum) Some of the posts are ridiculous, though. Like giving tips about claiming plausible deniability by carrying a baseball along with your bat you use for beating, or shooting anyone who leaves their dogs' poop in a park. I hope they're made by one sock puppet, and that there aren't that many sadistic people out there. |
It's these same gross people with the same gross fantasies, over and over. Someone "innocently" asks how to protect themselves against a dog, then you get a hundred responses advising kicking, beating, shooting, spraying, all sorts of awful things. These people are deranged. I would imagine in real life they're all terrified of the world - but in the pets forum they are aggressive and violent. It's sick. |
| Maybe that forum also needs registrations. |
| I think you're the one who is triggered, OP. I have a large, rambunctious dog, and even though he loves people, he has frightened parents before with his exuberant attitude. If someone wants to defend their toddler, that's FINE by me. I keep my dog leashed now after that one episode where he ran towards a little girl (did not touch her) and her father went ballistic. He had a right to, my dog was much bigger than his child. |
| The thread is about aggressive dogs. Not all dogs are pets. Therefore, the thread doesn't belong in the Pets forum. |
Some of the posts are indeed over the top, but you are part of the problem with the bolded. I am a dog owner and I see horrifically irresponsible dog owners who cannot control their unleashed dogs regularly. The OP of that thread has a right to ask without you impugning her motives. |
| OP, I think you are exaggerating somewhat but I have removed some of the posts. |
The poster is specifically talking about dogs who are pets. She is clear that the owners are bringing them to the park. |
It's kind of ridiculous to have horror story after horror story in a Pets forum, unless you're trying to convince people not to own a dog. Ostensibly, that's not what people would consult a Pets forum for. |
That whole forum is filled with people who hate dogs (and sometimes cats). I occasionally see a thread in the recent topics that shows some love, care, or humanity - but it is rare. Mostly it is an angry, vicious forum filled with nasty people who use the opportunity to spew hatred and misinformation about animals. It should be called the anti-pets forum. |
| I just read the thread in question and humbly submit that a lot of what pet owners are seeing as critique of the animals themselves or “animal hatred” is very clearly critique of the pet owners. I wonder how many of the people claiming offense on behalf of dogs are the same people who let their dogs off-leash in public areas? |
+1 there's been an uptick in these threads the past couple of weeks |
A critique of pet owners? Really? They're getting specific about the best type of bat to use (a cricket bat, in case you're wondering) and advise carrying a baseball for plausible deniability (in case anyone thinks you're carrying the bat around with the intent to bash a dog without provocation, I guess). That's more of a fantasization than a critique. Also, is it really appropriate to post a critique of pet owners in a Pets forum? That's like me coming uninvited into your house and then taking a steaming dump in your living room because I think your toilet is dirty. |
I am an animal lover with a long, long history of rescues and I think you are being absolutely ridiculous. |
