| I'm older and don't use much social media, but I do find Facebook useful for keeping up with interest/hobby groups and organizing events. I understand that Facebook is being dropped like a hot potato by younger people. But what's the replacement that allows you to carry out a conversation & organize within a group? I don't see Tik-Tok or IG really meeting that need, do they? |

Conversations on text and twitter. A lot of my affinity groups have their own platforms (my church has a log-in site where we organize stuff, so does Scouts) or use Discord. For school info I come to DCUM, lol.
I am not that young (40s) but dropped Facebook many years ago because it felt addictive and I was always upset about something or other on there. I do think the company is a bad actor and invasive. But if it's working for you and maintaining healthy social connections, then it's working: no need to follow the young people to another platform. |
Same here. Dropped FB probably 8 or 10 years ago at this point. It's literally additive by design (as everyone knows). It just felt incredibly unhealthy to me so I dumped it. I had withdrawal the first few weeks, especially the first week where I would keep getting my phone to bring it up. After a month that was pretty much gone and my life was back to the way it was pre-FB. My mental health improved so much. FB caused me anxiety, always looking for those updates. 0/10 don't recommend facebook. |
| Reddit. What are your hobbies? I keep up with photography, knitting, dogs, book genre ones. What you like is for sure there. |
| Not using facebook. |
| I think discord is where people are moving for group organization stuff |

You can certainly keep FB. It's a main platform for many organizations. If you don't want to use it for personal use, that is another matter.
It's no more " addictive" than literally anything else, frankly, so you and only you decide how to use it. |
| It all depends on how niche your groups are. As others have mentioned, Reddit may have everything you need. But if it's a small group that only congregates on Facebook, then that is your only option. |
| On the contrary, in my opinion, IG and Tik Tok do the same thing and even more than Facebook. I have an account on all 3 social networks. I rarely surf on TikTok, only when I feel like having fun, but otherwise, I use Instagram more. Facebook already seems pretty old-fashioned to me and is full of fake news. And if we make a parallel between Instagram and Facebook, Instagram is much more developed. On Instagram, you can easily find sources with truthful information and anything you need. And besides, Instagram can be a good source to promote yourself and make your own money, while FB does not. You have to head over to https://1394ta.org/blog/instagram-story-ideas/ to get some interesting Instagram story ideas and get them right. That's all it takes to become a successful influencer. That's why young people choose Instagram, not Facebook. Instagram has a bigger potential and a higher level of modernization. |
