Here's your chance!
https://news.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/staff-bulletin/virtual-academy-now-accepting-applications-for-the-2022-2023-school-year/ The Montgomery Virtual Academy, a full-time virtual learning program for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12, is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year. Students interested in the program are required to apply for admission and must be approved to participate. (Students currently enrolled in the Virtual Academy do not need to reapply). Admission considerations include: For elementary school students: Primarily for students with extenuating circumstances related to health or other reasons that can be mitigated through a virtual learning program. For middle and high school students: For students to gain access to innovative courses, flexible scheduling and specialty courses that may not be available in all schools, and for students with extenuating circumstances, including health and other reasons, that can be mitigated through a virtual program. |

All the people on here lobbying for Virtual should sign up!! Here’s your chance.
And maybe now, you can let the rest of our kids happily go to school in person. TYVM. |
| I guess I'm shocked they are keeping this next year. Is this a permanent thing? |
That was the plan as of last year. Things can change, of course! |
| I wonder if they will reject applications if they don't agree with your extenuating circumstances. Can a student just say they prefer virtual and be accepted into the program? |
A lot of people prefer virtual compared to in person. Lot of good teachers and students are making a lot of progress as well. Virtual will continue as long as there is demand. |
If you are interested just apply and let them tell you no. |
Why not? It’s a good option for those students who may benefit from a virtual option. I see it as a positive, and as long as there is demand, it may be good idea to continue it. |
| Yay, go apply and stop trying to interfere with how the rest of us want to educate our children |
Don't know if it's permanent but I'm guessing that they are going to take applications in order to determine staffing |
Yes, its been talked about many times. Keep up. |
It is permanent. |
No one is interfering with your free child care. |
As other said apply and find out. Mcps is already under staffed so that will be a factor in how many spaces will have in a virtual program, especially knowing that for some families if they don't get virtual they might not necessarily enroll their kids in person they might just choose to homeschool or do some other independent virtual program. |
B**** please you have been trying to shut down school al month and accusing me of eugenics and nazzism and all other kinds of crazy paranoid fantasies go take your meds. |
