Preteen mustache/ what to do. Electrolysis?

DS will be turning 13 soon. When do boys start shaving? DS is very lazy plus I think he’s too young to shave. He’s Asian so he’s not that hairy- yet (LOL).

WTH would you do electrolysis? that's permanent. I thought you'd be talking about a DD with that. But for a DS!????

NO ELECTROLYSIS

Have his Dad, or a trusted male role model, teach him to shave.

Wth shave it.

At 13, using an electric razor once or twice per month should do the trick.

Shave it. Plenty of boys start shaving at that age. They only need to do it once a week at the beginning! Get him an electric razor.

People are oddly reluctant to let their boys start shaving for some reason. DH didn't want DS to shave and kept resisting. DD threatened to go into DS's bedroom while he slept and wax it off! He really looked smarmy, but that wasn't the right way to deal with it. I got him an electric shaver and now everyone is happy.

Nair? Is that still around? Do males wax?

Don't wax anywhere you hope to have full growth later in life.

No. No. No.

Just no.

44yo male here.

Look, he's aware of the hair on his upper lip. And he's aware of any other changes to his body. Maybe he's got some armpit or pubic. Or at the very least, he's probably had a pimple or two.

Approach this with love. This is an opportunity for his father to create a comforting and safe environment to discuss puberty and the changes that come with. If he wants to keep it, that's fine too; its his body. But he may not want to keep it, but doesn't know what to do to remove it.

Coming up with crazy ways to remove it (electrolysis!?!?!) will only make him feel ashamed of his changing body. He knows that grown men shave their facial hair; so it would be strange to suggest that he wax it off.

Instead, use this as a chance to gently shepherd him into a new phase of his life. One where he knows he has a trusted male role model he can turn to, to ask questions and not feel embarrassed.

Shave it. Cannot believe you are asking about electrolysis or waxing! You are nuts. A 13 yr old is more than capable of shaving. Most 13 yr girls are already shaving at least some areas of their body by now.

Our 14 yo uses an electric mustache/beard trimmer once a week or so and that is sufficient for now.

No electrolysis.

Just buy him an electrical shaver.https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Shaver-S1211-81/dp/B081R14KRR/ref=zg_bs_13271092011_3/147-8062591-8901218?pd_rd_i=B081R14KRR&psc=1

My son uses his every few weeks or so. He's 13.

Is it just me or are the questions posed on these boards lately getting more and more inane?

Has the pandemic fried our brains?
