This, respectfully, is one of the stupidest responses I’ve read on this thread….

Why? What offering will clubs have for trapped players from a single month instead of 5 months?

This is why we need grad year! All
Kids in the same grade together. Don’t worry about the mustaches on 7th graders. As long as they are on your team.

ECNL Never says it will "eliminate" trapped players. They only talk about "reduce" trapped player. In the podcast, the CEO said by setting 9/1 cutoff, it will reduce the most. Don't act like a bunch of liberal losers that everything has to go your way.

Couldn’t have said it better

What is the basis for determining 9/1 will reduce the most? Actual data on enrollment ages? Doubtful.

Yes there is published information on this…all but 2-3 states use 9/1

Not state cutoffs - data about actual number of August kids that enroll right upon turning 5 even in 9/1 minimum cutoff states. In many cases those kids aren’t enrolling in K until the next year. 9/1 cutoff is irrelevant if majority of August kids don’t actually enroll until the next year.

I heard grad year is the best way to make sure all kids are in the same grade.

So would we still use U19 or U18 and August kids get to compete their senior year of high school? What happens to an August kid who’s a senior in 26/27?

Self selecting to hold your kid back was a choice. It's not the world's job to cater to your held back kid. For the state's that legit have earlier cutoffs that is different.

Wait, why are we even discussing this? Dentist whole issue died but they decided to leave it up to the clubs? I’m an Edp parent in Maryland. Does this affect me?

Not clubs. Leagues. It was never up to clubs and always up to leagues.

Most boys born in August are recommended to start late. Which is a big difference from being held back.

I would bet most kinder teachers would prefer to get boys at age 7 or 8 lol

Could you imagine leaving it up to the clubs…. This game we are going to allow 15 year olds to play U13.
