favorite niece graduating college and heading to NYC. She's in finance and very fashionable. Would the Elsa Peretti Teardrop Hoop Earrings be a perfect gift for her? They're just the right budget for me (and I have a Tiffany credit I can't get rid of). |
I don't really love those -- they sit weirdly on the ear. Also, earrings are so easy to lose. I would look at a silver necklace at the same price point (presume you're looking at around the $400 mark) instead. |
The teardrop earrings are $600 and I thought a pretty good mix of pretty, subtle and statement (Tiffany). And would look great in the daytime finance world and happy hour. |
Those look trendy and dated.
I like the Tiffany teardrop studs. You could also give her a Tiffany gift card and let her choose. |
Trendy AND dated? You mean they were trendy 5 years ago? |
^^ yes that’s what I meant. Trendy at one point, but now dated. |
Kids her age want jewelry from brands like Mejuri and Stone & Strand, not old lady brands like Tiffany/Cartier. |
Mejuri is cheap crap. She'll appreciate something that's not only fashionable and appropriate for date nights and the workplace but also quality she'll be happy to have in her collection 10 years from now. OP - I love your choice, I say go for it. |
If you can do it, can you take her put to lunch and take her to Tiffany so she can pick her jewelry? I'm sure it will be a day she'll have nice memories of you |
They feel a little dated to me.
What about these? About the same price, and not trendy, but pretty classic. https://www.tiffany.com/jewelry/earrings/palomas-melody-hoop-earrings-37513717/ |
Get the pearls. They are surprisingly cheap around 600. They are classic and she can wear them with everything. |
I looked at Stone and Strand. Those designs were horrific. |
I do love these but they seem like earrings I’d pick out for myself and I’m twice her age. But I’d surely prefer to buy classic than trendy or outdated. And to pp, I can promise this girl loves old brands. Her parents bought her the Cartier tank watch for her 21st bday and she was so happy she cried. |
Those are fitting for someone so much older. |
Elsa Peretti teardrops are my staple - but I'm 50, so if that tells you anything... |
