| I realize it depends on a bunch of factors, but at what income would you not even bother to apply? 250? 300? higher? |
| 200 |
| Got some aid with 300. It depends on the school. |
Aid or merit? How much? |
| I make 250. We got merit aid but it didn’t bring the cost to under UVA so she went to UVA. |
20K... aid aid... |
| we got 20-30K merit at various schools. we didn't apply for FAFSA, 1M |
|
If significant amount in savings (outside of retirement), it almost doesn't seem to matter the income (either/or).

|
OP, keep in mind that many people consider the relatively small federal loans offered to every student to be "aid."

+1 It doesn’t take much 1 million => 56k EFC |
| Use the Net Price Calculator for each school to see what they would offer. You can usually find it on the school's financial aid website. |
| $250k = EFC of 100 percent. Went to UVA |
1 million outside of retirement accounts isn't much to deem you not needing financial aid?? |
I am confused. You think that $1 mill over and above retirement accounts should still allow you to qualify for aid? |
That was the case for decades. "No loan" is a relatively new development. |
