Intimacy on vacation with kids?

Is it a fallacy?

The thought just dawned on me. We will be heading to a resort for SB. Our kids are older now (10/12) and I’d feel comfortable kicking them out to wander shut so I could spend some time with my wife. I was just thinking about how my parents would load me down with quarters and send me to the hotel arcade as a kid! Is there a modern solution to this problem or are we just going without?

Those ages are easy as they can be left unsupervised. Don't go without! As someone else suggested, send them out to explore. And definitely try to get a room separate from them with a closing door. I do this and my kid is much much younger.

Unfortunately due to the cost, we will be bunking together this trip. I’m glad others said they’d send them out to explore. I was prepared for you all to be down my throat about that.

No not a chance in hell. Kids are a great excuse to avoid sex with your DH. You know what will happen on your vacation. Just except it now.

Sign them up for an activity (if offered at the resort) or yes, just send them out to explore. I'm sure the kids (especially the 12yo) would also like a break from mom and dad if you're all bunking in one hotel room.

You'd send a 10 year old out to "explore?" I mean, where is the resort? Is this a foreign country? I would not just tell my kids to walk around somewhere so I could have sex--not least because you don't when they'll show up again. See if the resort has any supervised activities or a kids' club.

What type of resort? Is it in the US? Does it have an arcade or ice cream shop? Kids club? You need to plan ahead. Next time get a condo or at least two rooms.
