WTOP just announced the juvenile wil not only not go to juvenile detention but he will not be a registered sex offender. So zero consequences

Disgusting, but not at all surprising.

Restorative justice. Protected class.

Should Virginia overlook rape?

- apparently so, if this case is an indicator.

“ The judge ordered the teen to be in supervised probation, in a locked facility, until his 18th birthday, have not contact with the victims or their families. And…”I decline to grant the Commonwealth’s motion,” to require the teen to register as an adult sex offender.”

That isn’t consequence-free. The judge stopped short of putting a 15 year old on the adult sex offender registry.

And the father of the victim is still awful.

What will you tell the next victim ?

The tweet thread lays out what happened pretty clearly.

I imagine it was the opposition to the registry by the probation officer who said research shows those who end up on the registry are actually more likely to offend that may have swung the deal.

The prosecutor, who's been targeted for scorn by the pitchfork Tucker brigade, actually pushed for the registry.

As a practical matter, yeah, he should probably have a warning around his neck. But he is only 15. Maybe three years in juvie will actually reform him. One can only hope.

A member of the Loudon council board of supervisors acted as attorney for the rapist . They love criminals that check a box that much

Of course they are doing nothing. A Potomac Falls HS student told his friend he wanted to kill himself, the friend emailed the counselor and the counselor did nothing. Boy went through with it. It only came out because the friend showed the parents the email he sent. The district closed ranks around the counselor, didn’t fire him/her and didn’t even really investigate. Stonewalled the grieving parents every step of the way.

“Check the box”? Is that a new euphemism for rape?
