Struggling to find a good CPA who can help with a little complex taxes and understands World Bank staff taxation, foreign exclusions, etc.

The last top CPAs bailed on us after filling our taxes and left us with heavy tax bills so hoping to find someone realibale.

Please help.

Thank you

The worldbank retains services of a large public accounting firm to handle their global mobility taxes, as far as I know. Why are you not covered by that agreement

The Wolf Group is good but very expensive.

You owe taxes to someone OP here or your home country. Trying to avoid paying those taxes will get you in hot water.

I have never seen so many dumb answers except for the one re Wolf Group. Why do people reply when they are so clueless?

Ask the IMF and/Bank HR. If you are a spouse ask the family associations. They have recommendations.

NP here - where did you get the impression that OP was trying to avoid paying taxes?

Agree, Wolf Group is very expensive and the two CPAs we have used from the WB list were nonresponsive after taking money for filling our taxes.

Is anyone else who is a US citizen and works for the WB with recommendations?

We inquired about it and were told that was not an option. Maybe they give that option to Managers and above? Nightmare it is to deal with US taxes as a World Bank staff.
Also trying to ask fellow US citizens who work there for recommendations but there are so few of them.

Glad that I was at least correct after a PP lumped me into a posts of the clueless. Reality is I know exactly which firm prepares global tax reconciliations for your employees. Sorry that you are not eligible!

The responsibility for preparing and submitting a tax return always rests with the individual. The World Bank and other UN organisations would never provide that service. The reasons are obvious. They employ staff from many countries so it would be extraordinarily complicated, they wouldn’t want to be liable for any errors or problems, and there are thousands of employees so it would be very expensive. You could email the WBGFN and ask if they have any lists of CPAs. They are the ones that organise periodic lunchtime presentations on tax issues. Dale Mason, who used to be with Wolf and do a lot of the presentations, left and set up his own shop. Perhaps his rates are more reasonable without the large firm overhead. You could also try googling
