In your field, how often do employers usually ask for transcripts?

If yes, which transcripts? And how often are they actually looked at, if you know?

I'm curious after reading the replies on https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/957918.page.

College transcripts? Never, however they did verify my highest degree to ensure I graduated. No need to verify BA/BS once confirmed you’ve earned a Masters/PhD/JD/MD

It consulting (Federal and industry) and no one has ever asked for a transcript.....I remember needing them to apply to college and grad school and never again. for background checks, investigators call the school to verify graduation.

I’m an academic. So every single time.

I've worked in the corporate world, in a university library, and in an academia-related nonprofit and no one has ever asked to see my transcripts as part of the hiring process (or anytime thereafter). I remember my college roommate took a copy of her transcript with her to her initial round of post-college job interviews and was kind of upset that no one was ever interested in looking at it. She was like, "why did I work so hard on my GPA if no one is going to care?" LOL

Never. Not once as either an employee or as someone doing hiring.

I work in politics, specifically political campaigns and political tech and data.

I did once have a boss confirm that I actually graduated from the college I said I graduated from, but he fact checked everyone's resumes because he'd had a run of people lying on theirs. But that was it.

Similar experience here.

I hire engineers and CS majors. I ask for transcripts every time. I want to see what coursework they took ad how the did. And ask questions about projects etc. they may get a 3.5 but if thats more Cs in major work and As in easy electives. Its matters.

Not once. Boring desk job in corporate America.

Federal lawyer - law school transcripts only, but yes every time. And some people really care about your grades.

I posted on the other thread. I work in corporate finance and I’ve never had to provide transcripts. But 2 of my jobs had a full background investigation so transcript/degree check may well have been a part of it.
