Are homosexual natures created by nurture, nature, or God?
I think the answer is is quite important as it would show us the cause/source of homosexuality. If God, as believers think, then why is God creating gays? Regards DL |
| By Hod. The Episcopal church doesn’t think this is a problem and our minister is gay. |
^^ God not Hod, obviously |
| God - Greek Orthodox here. |
| Since this is religion where is this documented |
Where else will the Catholic Church find clergy? |
| Why dies the cause matter? |

OMG. Is this really a serious question? I'm sorry, this post just seems to validate that many people in the world are both ignorant and arrogant. Obviously, your question would be more appropriately answered in the LGBT forum section. It seems you are just seeking validation on your personal ultra conservative views posting this question in the religion forum.
Disorders of sex development (DSD) is a real thing. Even if people may not show external visible symptoms at birth or puberty, you must keep in mind that many DSD people could be on the spectrum which is very hard to diagnose. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disorders_of_sex_development I'm a female heterosexual with visible external signs of hyperandrogenism since puberty and I am still having a hard time getting a diagnosis. Besides the few people who might 'experiment', homosexuality is largely genetic and something that they cannot 'fix' with religion. |
nature and God are the same thing, aren't they? What's the difference? |
| Op what is the difference between nature and God? |
| OP I think it’s some of all. Being gay/straight/bi is a spectrum. For me I think that physically I was born bi. That’s nature. But I think life events, situations, dynamics ( nurture) etc led me towards being with a woman during my mid adult life ( happily married now) God creates us to be different and to be somewhere on the spectrum. |

IMO, God doesn't purposefully control some aspects of nature, like weather. I don't know that anyone knows for certain, but sometimes things happen in the womb that was not necessarily God's intent. It's like asking "why does God let bad things happen to babies"? I'm not equating being gay with "bad"; I'm just pointing out that God let's things happen in "nature". If you stub your toe, God didn't necessarily make that happen. If a child is born gay, God didn't necessarily make that happen. IMO, there is some aspect of nature that causes people to be born gay. |
