Full or Queen Bed?

Anonymous
We are upgrading my 6 year old’s furniture and trying to decide between a full or queen size bed. I was leaning toward getting a full, but am wondering if a queen is more practical over the long term for things like sleepovers (friends or if a sibling wants to sleep in her room with her), or sometimes for a parent to sleep in on occasion (going through a bad dreams phase). Can two teens comfortably sleep in a full (I know it’s not comfortable for 2 adults from recent experience). That said, her room is big but she has lots of big toys (doll house, American girl sets) so don’t want to take up more room than needed.

Any recommendations?

I'd get her a twin trundle. Oh, and would not allow sleeping with parents.

We already have a twin with trundle which is being moved to her sibling’s room as the sibling is no longer in a crib. But we don’t want another twin - she has so many stuffed animals she sleeps with that are taking up too much space so we need something larger overall.

I don't have a guest room and kid's room is smallish - so I did queen.

Yes, two average sized teens can fit in a full. Two smallish adults can, too, but agree it is tight for larger (or even average sized) adults.

Why not?

Our kids went from crib to queen beds. We did not have to upgrade to a larger bed for them as they became taller.

We did a full but small room. Big room, I’d do a queen. Toys are time limited.

Twin with a trundle. Stuffed animals don't last forever.

Queen - for reasons you stated; better for sleepovers; better for parent to join kid if nightmare or illness strikes (just slept with my 10year old a kid in his queen recently when he was running high temp) and better for adult guests in a pinch.

If space is not an issue I would go with a Queen. Having said that, I don’t understand the need for Smeeicans to put their kids in such huge beds. In Europe queen beds are for couples.

Good lord, pp. No one said that. Take your imagination down a notch.

Both my teens have fulls, mostly due to the furniture they were purchased with. My daughter happily shares it for a sleepover.
