Perhaps I am being irrational, but I will be 20 weeks on Tuesday, and I haven't felt the slightest movement, "bubbles", kicks, etc.
Everyone else I know who is pregnant has felt movement by now. Anyone else out there who hasn't felt a peep out of their little one? |
My SIL didn't feel anything until after her 20th week - maybe around 22. She was also concerned because we were pregnant at the same time and I felt movement so much earlier.
It depends on where the placenta is, since the uterus has no nerve receptors. If the placenta is towards your stomach, the baby won't kick in that direction. Anyhow, she now has a healthy girl - don't worry yourself too much. Drink some juice to get more sugar before your ultrasound - that'll give the baby some energy for lots of kicks! |
I felt the same way when I was pregnant. I even bought one of those home monitors so I could try and listen for a heartbeat (never worked). When was your last doctor visit? Can you call them and ask about coming it, if you're worried? Generally I would say your concern is natural (the mommy protectiveness is kicking in already), but I wouldn't feel comfortable just brushing it off because there's no way to know your exact situation. |
I didn't feel anything until after 20 weeks either. Just when I was about to go beserk, I felt him move. Good luck. |
Just like PP, I didn't feel anything until I was 20 weeks -- and it was late in the week. I too was freaking out, but then I felt a little fluttering one night lying in bed. So, hang in there, you will probably feel something within the next week or so. I know it's hard and scary to wait. |
I also didn't feel anything until just after 20 weeks...I think that is totally normal, particularly for first time moms ![]() |
that's normal. at 20 weeks baby still has room to move without you noticing. I tried playing tapping games. One week I'd tap my belly lightly in one pattern. Next week another pattern. I'd also sing in the car at my belly, trying to provoke some reaction. Before long DS kicked 2 of my ribs out of place. |
Yet another who didn't feel until after 20 weeks...I felt like the "watch pot that never boiled"! I would lay in bed and just "wait". Finally, at about 22 weeks, I started to feel it. At 26 weeks, I've just started to fell movement from the outside when I have my hand on my belly. My timing is only right about once or twice a day, but it's pretty cool! |
I wouldn't worry. I'm 23 weeks and didn't really start feeling movement until after 20. I still don't feel a lot, and mostly feel it at night right before I go to sleep. When I went for my most recent checkup, we listened to the heartbeat and there was other noise that the doctor said was the baby moving around. I couldn't feel the movement at all, even though there seemed to be tons of movement judging from the noise. |
I went from not feeling anything at 20 weeks to being subjected to near constant pummeling by 25. You're fine. ![]() |
Another poster here with a baby who didn't start to move until about 22 weeks. Then it was nonstop until the end! |
I'm ready to deliver twins this week...
and I did not feel movement until around week 21 or 22... I thought people were crazy when they kept telling me it will 'feel like a flutter' All I felt was ligament pain...and I thought that was the baby... but one day, indeed, this teeny little 'feather' moved in my belly... NOw? It's a circus. I must say, however, at around 18 weeks I was taking a hot bath and one of the kids kicked, and hard...guess the water was too hot but Nada happened again until a few weeks later relax...you have time |
I was at least 20 weeks along before I realized the intestinal gas I thought I was feeling was actually the baby moving. |
I'm 21 weeks and still have not felt anything yet. But sono showed baby moving and good heart rate. |
Everyone is different and with each pregnancy as well. Before you know it, your little one will be keeping you up half of the night doing gymnastics in your belly! Enjoy the quiet times for now! |
