rheumatoid arthritis - tell me about water kefir

Anonymous
Diagnosed with RA. A friend mentioned trying water kefir. I don't know anything about this.

I found this Kevita lemon cayenne at a local market and it's quite good. Is this a good brand? Are there better brands to try?

Not expecting miracles, but willing to try even if it helps just a little.

Thanks!

RA sufferer here. I am on methotrexate which has helped immensely. I hope you are exploring medical intervention in addition to this. It really can help, especially if your RA is caught before it has progressed too much.

Kevita has a lot of sugar if that is a concern. I LOVE homemade kefir, but I've only made it with organic whole milk. Don't think it did jack for arthritis though.

Sorry, your particular Kevita has Stevia, which I hate, but is much lower sugar than the buch I had.

Cut back on gluten and see if that helps

+1

There are a million diet fads for autoimmune disease. Exercise and a generally healthy diet (Mediterranean diet is the one with the most research supporting it for health in general) can be helpful.

20 years ago the diet fad for RA was super low fat, then it was fasting followed by a vegan diet.

I did see a study asking RA patients what foods helped their RA, and blueberries were the most common response. The most commonly reported things for making it worse were desserts and sugar.

There are a ton of great medicines for RA. If you have a good doctor, they'll work with you until something helps. Early treatment is key to stop your joints from being permanently damaged.

I’m on enbrel. Don’t listen to quacks. Eat healthily, excercise and make sure you are on the best medication that works for you.
