Can anyone actually get a booster for young teens?

Anonymous
I hear people going but we were turned away Monday.

Is anyone getting the booster through the county for 12-15 year olds?

The FDA approved it, but it still needs to be approved by the CDC. I believe they are meeting today, so hopefully by tomorrow young teens can get their boosters.

Maryland/MoCo are scheduling now.

Here's what the county health department says:

OP here. I scheduled it through the county earlier and answered everything honestly - my 15 year old had the Pfizer vaccines more than 6 months ago.

They let me schedule it but I don't want to take him out of school early if they will reject us at the door.

I'm looking for a number to call but I guess that's not realistic

I wouldn't worry about it. The website itself says:

"The following Marylanders are currently eligible for a COVID-19 booster shot:

Marylanders 12+ who received their second Pfizer COVID-19 dose at least five months ago"

I think the County changed yesterday right after Hogan's presser in which he said that MD would allow the boosters based on FDA approval. Private pharms, maybe not

PP here. Apparently I was wrong, or the website is wrong. I am told that people are being turned away when they show up for their scheduled booster!

If it doesn’t have CDC approval by your appointment time I would reschedule.

You can get the booster for your teen now at a county or state clinic. Unlike the pharmacies, the government clinics are not waiting for the CDC. Go to your appointment. My friend in Florida is able to get it from her pharmacy for her teen. Up here more conservative and slow as per usual but you can now get it at county and state clinics in Maryland.

Hogan and the state of Maryland have said boosters are open to ages 12+. However, the county seems to be waiting for the CDC approval (see their tweet posted above). So the state website says you can schedule, but it seems like the county may not honor that.

Prince George's is doing it. Baltimore too. Folks already getting it in both places.

Here's what the county just posted -- they are not boosting 12-15 yet.
