I’m 50- definitely not trying to conceive but I swear I feel pregnant. Clearly I can go get a test but there is no way that could happen. Constantly nasueus and bloated. Missed 3 periods. Figured menapause more likely but why the stomach issues? I am almost too embarrassed to buy a pregnancy test. And googled it’s less than 1% chance.
Have two kids so wasn’t even in my thoughts for 10 years. But while I was on this board about a kid issues thought I would get sanity check. |
| It sucks that you're having those symptoms, sorry you have to deal with that! Just to ease your anxiety, get a test overnight on Amazon or at the self checkout counter at the grocery or drug store. Good luck! |
| You might have false pregnancy, my bff MIL had it in her 60s. |
| Menopause! |
| No one else in this group is reaching 50 so you won’t get much insight into 50-year-old-bodies. |
| It is more common in women who've had many kids before. My MIL got pregnant at 45 even though "We don't have sex!". |
| Let us know if you test. How do you feel about a baby now in life? |
Please do not begin to consider this a take home baby until you have cleared genetic testing. |
| Perimenopause is the gift that keeps on giving. |
+1. Yep this. Take a test to put the thought to rest, then see your doctor of the symptoms are bothering you. |
| Just take a test, this isn’t hard. Don’t worry about something that can easily be put to rest. |
| Bloating can be a sign of ovarian cancer too. Worth getting checked out. |
Yeah, just came here to say this. See a doctor. |

"No way right?"
Nope. No way. (A 50-year-old woman who describes textbook menopausal symptoms and has missed multiple periods...is exactly what it sounds like. "Less than 1%" is overstating the odds by several orders of magnitude. If you truly thought you might be pregnant, you would buy a test. But you turned to a message board instead, because a test would be a dose of reality, and you're looking for... something else.) (Reading this, I just realized it sounds harsh - but believe me when I say, I really am truly sorry. No. You are not pregnant.) |
OP- don't want to scare you , but any woman in her 50's who starts noticing bloated and GI complaints should go to your GYN immediately and not for a PG test , but for an CA / ovarian screening. go immediately |
