I am trying to figure out why so much of the conversation has been dominated by the idea of him being an intelligence asset, as if that is somehow the *most* important thing.

Part of me wonders if this is a distraction from actual accountability for the people who participated or enabled this monstrous and maybe murderous network.

The point is not that anyone is saying this is a distraction from accountability.

The facts point to the U.S. government playing an active role facilitating Epstein and his activities over the decades. How do you think the public is supposed to take that? In decades past, upon realizing this fact, America would have been howling with outrage and demanding accountability. The power was with the people. America today is a very different country. The old values are gone, and the Patriot Act facilitated a government takeover of power.

And there is your answer. There will be no accountability in America because the power lies with the government, not with the people.

I just saw on IG a video about women around Epstein who died/disappeared. The last was a young Mexican model who ~16 years ago was on a street screaming in Spanish about people eating humans, saying she knew about the murders, but not the eating. Like she was broadcasting it. Apparently the next day she disappeared.

It didn’t give context, but it said in the comments that she was in NYC in front of Epstein’s appt. It was chilling and I didn’t want to Google because it’s so depraved.

The people who enabled the monstrous network were the intelligence officials!

No way would it have continued past 2008 if it was not for them. It likely would not have continued past Maria and Annie Farmer’s initial complaint in the 90s.

Because of those intelligence officials in US, we have now been embroiled in war in the Middle East for 30+ years, lost $9T, probably lost universal health care which might have been possible without all the years of additional debt, women’s health care especially, and now democracy in general.

I agree that for this to have continued so long, have financial backing, not be investigated, etc that some intelligence agency was likely involved.

But then why would said intelligence agency allow the release of any files that may spill the secrets - even if just some of the secrets? Wouldn’t they have been way more deliberate about which files to release?
