How do you feel about attending indoor parties?

Now that masks and vaccines can’t protect you from covid. We have two New Years parties, a ski trip and 3 birthday parties in the next 3 weeks.

I told DH I think we should skip the new year parties. These will be 100% unmasked. I was looking forward to socializing but it just seems like a bad idea.

I also just reserved an indoor party space for my unvaccinated preschooler’s birthday. Not sure if we should go ahead or cancel.

Not a good idea at the moment because of the surge and because people are attending multiple parties. We just had our 1st covid scare, brought by 1 unvaxxed child(due to age), several of the vaccinated guests were infected, while others are still checking for symptoms.

Cancel them all.

I would cancel all indoor parties and go on the ski trip if I could limit indoor time with people outside of my group. I’ve heard too many stories recently of x number of people getting infected at an indoor party, including people we know. Not worth it.

No way

That sounds like a great idea during covid. Have a fantastic time!

I would go on the ski trip if it didn’t involve a plane ride.

Everyone is getting covid - may as well get it out of the way.

Not for me but I have a newborn at home.

Totally fine with it. Covid is such a tiny risk to people’s health now that we have vaccines and effective treatments. I’ve been following the data closely and omicron’s hospitalization and death rates are negligible.

Who says vaccines aren’t helping? Vaccinated people are getting very mild symptoms. We have had our boosters and our 9yo has had both shots. I’m living life now, Covid isn’t going away anytime soon.

Not everyone can be vaccinated, and some are immunocompromised . If you are sick ir exposed you cannot work (not all of us WFH). Not everyone has sick leave or vacation time to take that much time off.

Must be nice that 10 days of isolation wouldn’t be a massive inconvenience.

Go skiing.

Cancel the parties.
