Does your nanny thank you for holiday bonus?

Anonymous
We gave our nanny her bonus yesterday since she is off starting today through the new year. She has worked for us for 3 months and we gave her a little less than a week of pay. We gave it to her inside a card which she didn’t open at our house (took it with her). We also gave her a framed photo of our kids.

I am a little surprised she hasn’t texted us to say thanks. Our past nanny always did, but maybe that’s not the norm. I am just worried she was disappointed or expected more. We thought we were being generous since we haven’t had her for long.

Chill out. Maybe she has not opened it. Maybe she’s writing you a thank you card or maybe she’ll say thanks when she sees you in person.

Yes, our nanny thanks us but not effusively. Just “thank you”
When she receives it. That’s certainly enough for me.

OP. Come on.

She will probably thank you when she returns to work.

Yes, our nanny does the customary kneel and kiss of the royal ring. However, we also hired a nanny for our nanny and she has not been as appreciative. I'm starting to think it was a bad decision

OMG, OP. You are really insufferable. I really hope Santa brings you some medication for your rude personality. It’s been less than 24 hours and you’re here bashing the person who takes care of your kids for not kissing your feet.

Please do some serious reflection on what kind of person you want to be.

Yes. Our nanny opens the gifts in front of us and thanks and hugs us.

Maybe she’s waiting until Christmas to open it.

Did you hand it to her? Did she thank you when you did that?

OP, I had a somewhat similar situation, except that I Venmo'd the bonus to my nanny (separately from her paycheck) last week. She came the next few days and didn't say anything about it, so I was concerned she didn't notice it. I didn't want her to think we forgot her bonus, so I casually mentioned it and she said she hadn't checked the account. We did give her a card with a gift separately, along with a gift for her daughter, which she of course thanked us for at the time.

In your case, since it just happened yesterday, I wouldn't give any further thought to it. I'm sure she'll thank you when she returns after the holidays.

I'm a nanny and always text and thank as soon as I open the card. Usually, I write a note as well and either mail it or give it to them next time I see them, depending how much time will pass.

+1
I do as well & am surprised that your Nanny didn’t thank you already.
I would assume that she opened the card shortly after departing from your home…..

Op- do you seek out and thank your boss for a bonus when you are not at work

My guess is she is writing a thank you card or will thank you in person.
