Apologies if there are similar threads - there are so many Covid-related threads on this forum right now.
Deciding if it’s worth it to boost my 16 year old DS, because there is that (minute) risk of myocarditis and boosted kids are getting Omicron anyway. |
| Yes both boosted yesterday 16 and 20 |

I have two 16 year-olds, boy-girl twins. I was considering getting a booster for my DD, but delaying the booster for my son, who is an athlete. With the surge upon us, I decided to get boosters for both which they received earlier this week.
It's a tough decision because right now, the benefit of an additional dose in terms of preventing infection does not seem to be there. However, I decided to err on the side of doing everything we can to minimize COVID risk. |
| As of yesterday, our 16 and 20 year old kids are boosted. We didn’t think twice about it. Of course you get it done. |

Yes. My DS is a college-bound athlete and he asked to be boosted, because while there is a minute myocarditis risk from the vaccine, there is more of a risk to harm to his athletic health from the virus itself and it is so widespread now that the chances of getting it are high. He also wants to play his sport and do normal teen things without worrying as much about covid.
No problem with the booster other than tiredness and muscle aches for a day. |
| Not yet, because it hasn't been six months since her second vaccine. |
| My 17yo got his booster on 12/11. I wish my 13yo was old enough! |
| My 16 yr old has an appointment on 12/26. |
| Absolutely! No hesitancy at all. |
| Of course. |
|
Yes.
There are 1 per million cases of pediatric myocarditis. Do you realize how low that is? |
| Yes, both of them, boy and girl. It had been 6 months since their 2nd shot. |
| Yes, 16- and 18-year-old girls. |
My 17-year old also has a booster appointment the day after Christmas. |

I’m hoping to walk into a Safeway with my just-turned-16 year old and get the booster tomorrow.
Was intending to wait a bit longer, but that seems unwise given the events of the last week or two. The drive to the Safeway is probably more dangerous for DC than the booster. |
