So this much-loved book is now airing as a series on HBO Max.

I'm about to watch the first episode. Anyone else?

It's fine. Sort of slow. Pretty images and not terrifying, which is saying a lot for an Apocalypse show. I stopped after 4 eps. Didn't read the book.

So thankful that the book was written and series conceived pre-covid.

I do remember reading the most recent book by Emily St. John Mandel very early in lockdown so it's one of my few non-Covid standout memories from spring 2020.

You could wait until they all finish and do a 7-day feee trial to binge it (along with any other HBO series you or anyone else in your household may be interested in).

I've watched the first three episodes and it's pretty good. I had some concerns about how they were going to portray Miranda, which was the character that spoke to me the most in the book. But so far Miranda has had her due.

I very much do not like the guy that is representing the Museum of Civilization. I am too lazy too look up his name.

I think they've done an excellent job so far with weaving a few of the plot/storylines.

I have watched all 5 episodes out so far, aaaanndddd I'm pretty torn. I'll see if anyone else posts before I post spoilers. It's been a long time since I've read the book and I feel like the storyline is deviating pretty substantially, and in ways I'm not sure I like.

Anyone else all caught up?

I have not read the book and I've watched all the episodes so far. It's incredibly creepy and unsettling. I don't understand why people describe this series as life affirming. I want to see how it ends but I find most of the characters terribly flawed/unlikeable/scary.
