It seems unlikely that 401(k) balances update in real-time vs. at market close. And even if so, this would indicate your balance is more tied to your current contributions vs. investment growth. Otherwise, the math doesn't work.

Mine was also at an all time high, but I also project a minimum of where I should be at the end of each year with a modest interest rate.

Right now, I am going to be substantially less at the end of 2025 than what I had originally estimated based on what my 401k total at the end of 2024, taking into account my contributions and expected compounded interest. The PP is right, 401 balance looks higher mainly due to contributions, not interest earned.

In MAGA math, up is down and down is up.

20 year bond market problems today. Bond vigilantes don’t like the deficits in the bill that Republicans are selling.

BESSENT: OTHER COUNTRIES' CURRENCIES RISING, NOT DOLLAR FALLING

You're not overweight, you are undertall.

LOL

Also, if folks on here bragging on their 401(k), then you don't really have a plan.

What % do you expect as minimum annual growth?

The stock market is not the economy. Trump has had a couple of bright spots in the last employment and inflation reports but first quarter was a contraction, bond markets are getting spooked, layoffs are picking up, and goods are just starting to get hit with tariffs.

All this AND much of the stock market is not doing well either.

Trump's economy sucks. Unless you're in Trump's inner circle getting insider trading tips.

This government so far has been a literal crypto pump and dump and a scam for a vast majority of people. We don't need a recession, they just like triggering one.
