No one has a video of gun violence. It was all made up.

There was a specific, on-line threat involving racist language and it was not "made up." (Please just shut up when you don't know anything.) School is hosting a huge, informative Zoom meeting right now. MPD is involved.

Dear DCI Families,

On Sunday, December 5th, we became aware of an incident involving a student who posted a video and used inappropriate language online. Some students shared that there were also threats of gun violence and MPD was contacted immediately. After their investigation, MPD declared that there are no imminent threats to our school community at this time.

We understand there is a great deal of concern and we want you to know the DCI administration is responding with haste. Any family who chooses to keep their student home today will be excused. Students can keep up with assignments via Google Classroom. Zoom access will still be reserved for students in quarantine/suffering from COVID-19.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

The "inappropriate language" was a white student screaming the n-word in one video, and threatening violence in another. Per eye witnesses, the MPD was at at the school today. The school sent out the email AFTER school started, so most parents were caught unawares. There was a flurry of parents calling in the school have kids sent home early & and pickups...my kids finished classes with single-digit number of students.

A presentation regarding what track to pick (essentially vocational vs. college vs. IB) was cancelled due to all the kids leaving the school today.

The student is no different than the white parent rage we’ve seen all across the country.

I would like to see that student expelled or at the very least long term suspended with visits to a mental health professional at the school.. Racism + threats isn’t ok.

The video is still on Instagram. It seems to be a snippet of a longer video, so we don't know the context. But he's old enough to have known better.

I don't know what really happened, I'm leaning on side of drama rather than real danger, but I was not amused to receive that email once my DD was already in school.
