| I haven’t baked for a bake sale in a long time but need to this week. What things are popular at a bake sale (high school) these days? |
|
I am okay with being argued with, given that these are not show-off go-tos by any stretch of the imagination, but what I've seen go first every time are these:
1. Good classic Rice Krispie treats 2. Classic chocolate chip cookies 3. Caramel crunch popcorn & nuts mix I think it's in part that people know what to expect with htem. |
| I agree with PP and make separate baggies of 3-4 cookies/items. |
| Crinkle cookies! |
| I just make Toll house cookies or m and m cookies and bag 3 or 4 in those Wilton bags with the twist ties. |
PP here. Here’s the recipe I always use: https://www.williams-sonoma.com/m/recipe/chocolate-crinkle-cookies.amp.html So good! |
| Cupcakes are popular. But some a$$hole always buys the giant ones from Costco to sell and the homemade ones look paltry in comparison. |
| I don't bake - just get a carton of Dunkin' Donuts munchkins and everyone is perfectly happy with those. Oh wait, once I got the sea salt brownie bites from Trader Joe's - people were happy with those too. |
|
Thanks. Re: the cupcakes: do you put them in individual bags, or can I just have them a tray? Not sure what is considered acceptable and safe these days.
I like to bake, so will be doing my own for sure. Will plan on some cookies and cupcakes if I can figure out how they need to be packaged. |
|
I think cupcakes are harder now that things need to be packaged.
Brownies are always popular but a lot of people bring them. Lemon bars, or blondies or something similar would be good. Chocolate chip cookies always sell well but a lot of people bring those too. |
Bakery section at supermarket has individual cupcake containers. |

Nothing store bought. No Costco. No Dunkin’ Donuts. No Trader Joe’s. That defeats the point of a bake sale and it’s no longer a bake sale.
Chocolate dipped pretzels / chocolate dipped large marshmallows on a stick. |
Agree that this is a good choice, but -- if I may be a bit pedantic? -- if we are going to be strict about what counts for a bake sale, it should probably be things that are baked, no? |
I hate these. They look pretty so they sell but they suck. |
