| Really trying to get a feel for this school. We have visited. DC is social, likes sports, wants a school spirit school and not in the middle of nowhere like Clemson. Anyone with first hand knowledge? He’s interested in business tbd area. |
| Seems like a good fit. I do not like sports, but still went to every single football game because that was the thing to do and was really into my school and them being good at football. HAve not watched since, so have no idea how we are doing now! I went to the honors college and also majored in finance and management. Doing nothing in that area now, but i think the school is pretty highly ranked, especially international business. Does he want to join a fraternity? |

My son is there. He loves it, is in the business school and pays in state, we live in MD.
His teachers seem good mostly, check rate my professors before registering one of the accounting teachers fails everybody. What questions do you have? The weather is beautiful most the year, hot though at times. Fall is very football oriented but UofSC doesn’t seem to take it too serious because they suck compared to the rest of the SEC, he visits friends at other campuses for games and vice versa. He plays golf and visits Charleston and some beaches. Saturdays he goes to a street market for amazing yummy food. He started during COVID so it wasn’t the gratesr start but Columbus is liberal and educated so they handled it well Without being too restrictive. 5 points, the major hangout got shut down due too many students getting roofied. |
| the school is in Columbia, not Columbus. |
| My nephew (from a pretty liberal family in Boston) loved his experience there. He graduated in June with a teaching undergrad/masters degree. Great friends, campus life and program, with a decent financial aid package. |
Columbia is kind of a shit-hole. So, there’s that and UofSC is right smack downtown Cola. Also, the football stadium is off campus unlike most SEC and ACC schools. It sits about a mile away in an industrial part of town. That makes it hard for students to get there and back. |

| Columbia is an ugly town that has no cute or special areas. It also has a strong military presence because of Ft. Jackson. |
|
Academics very mediocre. Lots of bubbas and sweet young things. Columbia is not where I would want to go to college but there are worse places- although few hotter and more humid places. Campus very spread out all over town which is a big negative.
In short, OP, your DC can say they have a college degree but it’s not going to open any doors outside of South Carolina |
Don't worry - we all got there fine and Columbia is liberal compared to the rest of South Carolina - all relative. Not hugely liberal, but relatively. |
| Clemson is a nicer town than Columbia |
People go to such schools to get away from people like you and your undoubtedly equally obnoxious AF spawn. |
this is true. |
Funny. I’m from Columbia |
This sounds about right |
