Another senseless murder of a college student. Just so sad.

Indicates more about the city than the college.

I went to Columbia around the turn of the century (lol) and lived in the neighborhood both on and off campus. I generally felt safe. But I've been back a few times and it feels a lot different to me now. I'm not sure if I would feel great about my college kid living there.

Oh Liberal New Yorkers and they're criminal reform bills, what a f g joke. Prayers for this poor young man and his family. Hope the snake that did this rots in hell.

So sad and so scary. My DD wants to go to NYU and I just feel that New York City right now is not a safe place.

chances are pretty good that your son won't be the next victim

You're the same POS who screams about 'politicizing a tragedy' when a school shooting happens, right?

So sick of thugs committing violent crimes and then only spending a few years in prison. This guy should have served a 20-year sentence minimum for his last vicious attack.

Nyu is In Greenwich village is Lower Manhattan and that is considered one of the “most desirable” neighborhoods in NYC. There’s Trader Joe’s, and lots of restaurants and luxury name brand stores. Facebook and Google and Slack have offices very close by.

My son is at NYU and the dorms are sprinkled around the city. When he started 3 years ago, he joked that he could just move “off campus” into the
building next door; we googled and his “neighbors” pay $$$ a month for a 2 BR.

I grew up in Manhattan and went to school in this area 20 years ago but still have friends nearby, my spouse lived there a few years ago before we married, etc. that park has always been bad news . Tessa majors was killed there just 2 years ago. I was always careful walking around there and mostly avoided the area
