| If your kid applied ED to a top college and the cost is 80K. (And if you are not eligible according to FAFSA. Late in filing CSS.). Will they care to offer you any merit scholarsship at all or you have pretty much sealed your fate with the ED checkbox? |
| ummmmm |
| Pretty much stuck |
| see parallel thread about admission breaks for full pay students . . . . |
This one? https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1018686.page Thanks. Yup, no dice. |
| You are stuck. However, you could ask to have the application moved to Regular Decision. |
| If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford it. Tell admissions and apply to other schools asap |
Where does your kid stand in their disclosure of top 25% SATs and GPA? And is the school ranked below 50 if it is a university? |
| If kid’s stats are decent you will get something. A token discount of 15-25k. Schools know even with ED, not many can pay full pay and that doesn’t do anybody any good. |
Are you speaking from experience or what you think? |
| It really depends on the school. The top top colleges don’t offer merit aid. |
Ah, would that it were so! |
| I asked in the other thread if applying ED meant you were agreeing to go to that school, if accepted, without aid. |
This sounds incredibly naive. There are plenty of full pay willing to take your spot at the good colleges. |
|
HAHAHAHA
oh goodness... |
