Will it too be restricted? If you can prosecute a woman for getting an abortion because it is murdering an unborn child then what about people who do IVF and don’t implant all their embryos? Or discard non-viable ones? Should they be forced to implant all embryos created with IVF good or bad? Where does the line stop? |
It is logical that IVF will be the next procedure that conservatives try to eliminate. Don't think it will work because they can't manipulate people over IVF as easily. |
Our only hope is that men participate in IVF too. Ending it would take away a right from men. |
Op here - I don’t have a dog in this fight. I had 3 kids without using IVF but would be curious to hear what pro-lifers say about the use of science and technology to conceive and when a “life” starts.
Also men participate in natural conception too but that hasn’t seemed to stop them from putting restrictions on pro-choice rights. |
Pro lifers are weirdly hypocritical about ivf |
Plus lots of conservatives actually do IVF. |
No one is trying to restrict rights to natural conception. They’re only trying to restrict a woman’s right to decide not to gestate — something men can’t do. |
But the argument for pro-lifers is literally that life begins at conception. Therefore an embryo made during IVF is a person and cannot just be discarded. I.E you must implant no matter what. Or face consequences. |
I am sure some have terminated pregnancies as well. |
The overproduction of embryos needed is a result of the inefficency of the IVF process.
IF pro-life law makers banned the distruction of unused embryos what would happen is that all the IVF industry stakeholders and doctors and scientists would get together and work out how to improve the artificial embryo implantation method. Thats not a bad thing IMO. Even as a pro choicer, I am unconfortable with human life being just thrown into the bin needlessly. Two years ago we didnt think that A Vaccine could be created as quickly as the COVID ones have been. Innovation comes as a result of need. |
Rich people will be fine. If IVF is outlawed in the US rich women will go out of the country for the procedure. |

Are you infertile? Have you struggled to conceive? Why don't we all just stay out of people's reproductive health challenges and let them make the best decisions they can for their own situations. |
m You do realize that at least half of all natural conceptions never make it to birth — most of them discarded before implantation. The human reproduction system is shockingly inefficient. Mother nature has no sentimentalism toward zygotes. |
You are not pro-choice if you feel compelled to butt into other peoples reproductive decisions. |
