A teacher at our school is abruptly resigning and the teacher's stated reasons are kind of nonsensical. Is this the vaccine mandate finally being enforced?
Note: I fully support the vaccine mandate. |
|
No.
Nothing is being enforced. She found a better job. |
Well I heard she got fired for alcoholism, brought on by raging STDs. Not really, but I figured if we're just doing wild speculation.... |
| They are not going to enforce it. At my school many of the adults are unvaccinated. The school is already understaffed so I can’t imagine them enforcing it. |
Which school? Come on you are a DCUM poster so tell us which school east of the park has unvaccinated teachers |
Pretty sure it’s all of them. |
| It was supposed to start in November. I assume by now, teachers, aides, and all other staff in a DCPS building have to be vaccinated or are not present (fired, sick leave, medical leave, family leave etc). |
Are you suggesting that vaccine rates are higher among teachers EOTP than WOTP? |
There are so far no consequences shared with staff beyond a written reprimand but I don’t even know if they did that. |
| They're doing "progressive discipline" which means that they get an email first, a letter of reprimand later, a day without pay I think then get put on leave without pay until they can be terminated. But I don't think anyone is to that point yet. |
No. The unvaccinated teachers in my DCPS building are still testing weekly and waiting to hear what might happen to them. |
| She got tired of dealing with parents like you. |
Doubt that’s the reason since most teachers at our school never even see the parents. |
| Come on, Omicron is here. These are the same teachers who shut down schools last year ("only when it's safe"). How much longer are we going to indulge these idiots before they get vaccinated or fired! |
As long as it takes to figure out a way to magically create new people to hire to fill their empty positions, but more likely as long as it takes to figure out a way that doesn’t involve DC eventually paying out a large sum wrongful termination settlement. |
