Low sodium dinner ideas

Anonymous
DH has been diagnosed with high blood pressure so we are doing a massive diet change to low sodium meals.
Would love any meal/recipes ideas!

Thank you!

You can skip adding salt when cooking. You could add other spices like paprika, black pepper, oregano, basils, parsley. Many people put salt in everything. We don't put salt in tomato sauce, or beans that comes from the can or jar. If you read the label, you can tell it has aot of salt already. If I make burgers from ground meat, I don't add much salt. I would add many other things (like what i listed above) and a bit of salt.
How often do you buy salt? My Morton salt container can lasts about 12 months.
Hard to manage your salt intake when you eat out though.

I don’t have any suggestions, I’m sorry. We went no sodium when my mother and grandmother (and, actually the other grandmother, too) were diagnosed with various things that required low sodium. I did not like it at all (it also coincided with going low fat, so between losing salt and fat, it was agony.

BUT what my mother and grandmother’s didn’t have was the internet!

Just don’t add salt and cook from scratch. It’s only prepared foods where you can’t control the sodium. Weight loss almost certainly more important.

Here’s one: https://www.amazon.com/Morton-Lite-Sodium-Table-2pack/dp/B079M94H6X/ref=pd_vtp_2/137-8196887-2778158?pd_rd_w=SCDSx&pf_rd_p=96226b5f-2d9a-439b-be45-97603787c682&pf_rd_r=M2EH0NREX43BFREG9N3Z&pd_rd_r=655a798d-89d3-4682-91d8-d97f7483ce42&pd_rd_wg=zD0D3&pd_rd_i=B079M94H6X&psc=1

And avoid processed foods and eating out.

Have you ever tasted low sodium salts? They taste like water softener tablets. (Probably because that’s basically what they are).
