Where can I take DD to get her ear pierced?
How does it work? What is the cost? |
|
Take her to a proper piercing studio, not some crap place at the mall. If you tell us where you are, people can probably give specific recommendations.
If you are near Arlington, Craig Pokes U is excellent. |
| Go to a piercing studio/tattoo parlor and not a dirty Claire’s or Walmart. Call your nearest studio and ask for prices and if you should bring jewelry or it comes with earrings. |
I took my dd to piercing pagoda and it was about $60 give or take. A proper place was way more expensive. Why so snobbish? It worked and my dd didn't get an infection. |
| We are in Fairfax and went to Craig Pokes U. Great experience and my DD really loves the earrings with the smooth, flat backs. |
| We did it at the pediatrician. |
|
OP here: thanks, we are in Georgetown.
DD is 12. She wants some hoop earrings, but I guess she will first need a little dot one no? |
They usually do studs first, yes, but if the hoops aren't too large, some will do them. Embassy Tattoo is fantastic. Appointments are necessary. |
| Both my kids went to piercing pagoda for first and second piercing. Cost depends on choice of earrings. I concur with PP that $60ish sounds right. I never heard of anyone having problems at PP. and my pediatrician said that while they’d do it, PP does a better job. |

We had a great experience at Time Bomb Tattoos and Piercings in Frederick. They required my driver's license and their consent as well. It was pricey but well worth it. Other studios required a passport or ID for my kids but they don't have ID. School ID would have counted but MCPS doesn't issue them.

| LOLing at that name - Craig Pokes U. Haha! |
| We went to Craig pokes U a few years when my daughter was 10. They were awesome, two guys did the piercing together so it was done in seconds. She has a second piercing and we went to a body piercing place again, they have much stricter sanitization rules. Plus the needles are single use. The mall places can’t sterilize that gun. Yuck. |
| The name may be funny and the building underwhelming, but Craig Pokes U is fantastic. |
| We had this done 2 weeks ago for our DD8 at the pediatrician. |
You got lucky. I know two people who got massive infections and one person who had lopsided piercings because the high schooler didn’t know where to hold the gun. Op please take your child to a piercing studio. They are licensed and sanitize/autoclave everything. They are professionals and not mall workers. |
