A hat tip to those who cleared the table, washed the dishes, and packaged up the leftovers.

We cooks work hard and we get the glory when we all sit down to give thanks. But they too serve who toil behind the scenes and after dinner at the sink. Thanks for making it possible for the rest of us to come downstairs this morning to a clean kitchen!

+1. I cooked for 4 hours yesterday, and wasn't able to clean as I went because all the timings were back to back. Cleaning was somethnng, because of course I also dragged out all the appliances I rarely use, and used them all at once. Thanks for all those who cleaned like they did in my house!

I am always happy to do clean up. Cooking is not enjoyable to me, nor an area of strength, so I take joy in contributing by cleaning up. I always defer to the host, however, and don’t just “take over” in the kitchen to wash, dry, and package. I know some hosts prefer to do the clean up themselves. In that case, I am happy to entertain the kids or do something else to make your life easier.

For what it’s worth, I also treat your kitchen/appliances/dishes with care. I often double back on those who have already “scraped” plates clean to actually get most of the debris off before rinsing and putting into your dishwasher. Not trying to cause you plumbing problems!!!

Thank you to the hosts!
