Which meat from SAFEWAY do i need to buy to make brisket?

Want to try making brisket. Google says "flat cut" but could not find it from my local safeway. Is it Eye Round Roasts? TIA.

Go to the butcher and ask him. A lot of times they keep the best meat behind the counter. And tell him how many people are coming and they’ll get you the right size even.

Brisket IS the cut. I mean, there is point or flat, but that's it. Eye of round is a completely different thing.

What I'm inferring here is that you are thinking of "brisket" as a dish, and it's that too, but it's a cut of meat. This is meant in a totally non-jerky way, but it's like asking if you can make steak with ground beef... or maybe with tongue.

A lot of places IME don't carry brisket except maybe around St. Patrick's Day. It's not hard to find, exactly, but it's hit or miss. Some Giants or Safeways or whatever will have them, and some won't. Outside of going to a Jewish market like Snider's, there are no guarantees. If your Safeway doesn't have a brisket (cut of meat), it doesn't have a brisket.

Agree with the PP that you will need to call around to find a store with brisket.

Costco usually carries it.

Costco’s briskets are way too large. Grovesnor Market in Rockville has great brisket

I’ve had Costco’s butchers cut me a smaller portion.

Giant in Mclean will often have briskets, particularly in advance of the Jewish holidays although with Thanksgiving so close this year to Chanukah I don’t know.

My dh gets brisket at the Safeway in upper Georgetown on Wisconsin (used to be called "Social Safeway". It is marked " brisket" on the tag. It turns out great in the crock pot. I cut it in half, slather on bbq sauce, cover meat in foil, and pour water in pot for moisture. Easy + delicious. You can fold potatoes in foil or other veges + cook together. No fuss-- no muss.
