Expectant and Postpartum Moms
My OB told me that often baby's sex can be seen at 16 weeks via ultrasound I'd never heard this before and have my 16 week appt this week so am wondering if others have found out the sex at 16 weeks.
i did!
Yes, I did but only because they couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler. So it wasn't a scheduled sonogram and I wouldn't have had one until 20 wks otherwise.
many practices do not have ultrasounds done at every appt - it appears that yours does. Most people find out the sex (if they chose to) while having the detailed anatomy scan done between 17 and 20 weeks. A reminder - this is to see the organs and make sure things are all looking OK - finding out the sex is secondary. I know of people who went into this very excited about finding out if it was a boy or a girl - only to walk out of the apt with information they did not expect. This is the exception - but definitely a chance.

me too! Another boy!
It's technically possible but the baby has to be cooperating by flashing you. I had several u/s on good quality machines b/w 14-18 weeks and we had to wait until 21 weeks because the baby just didn't want to show us until then! After that, HE flashed his stuff at every opportunity. Go figure!
We didn't and the reason being it is one of life's few surprises and nothing beats after labor hearing a doctor say it's a ............
Was this really necessary? We all know the purpose of the 20 week scan and I am sure all of us go in with fingers and toes crossed. |
I did, correctly. I was having ultrasounds at every appointment until 20 weeks due to an ovarian cyst they wanted to watch.
|
I actually had one at 16 and at 20 weeks.
The 16 week was for dating purposes.... suffice to say after DC1 I never got my period back so I didn't know I was pregnant. I may have been possible but I was too busy being in shock at seeing a big ass baby instead of a little tadpole to ask. |
They called mine correctly between 15 and 16 weeks when I went for the amnio (and confirmed with the amnio, of course). This was at the high risk OB so it was using a very precise ultrasound machine, unlike the one in my regular OB's office.
We did for one, the other we couldn't see and had to wait until 20 weeks. By then, both were very obvious!
I found out at 15 weeks, which was confirmed by an amnio. Doctor told me because I am on the thinner side, it was easier to tell and that the baby cooperated.
Yes, found out at my Level 2 ultrasound, which I had done at 16 weeks just in case anything popped up and warranted an amnio. It was clear as a bell. A friend told me to have a chocolate bar or a little caffeine before and it worked like a charm. She was moving all around and showed us her goods.
