Ex TJ PTSA President - political aspirations?

Anonymous
HJ was brazen enough to post this along with a GIF of Donald Trump dancing on a parent FB page :

"Yes. the VA PTA did orchestrate her removal. As for mine, who cares? Youngkin was elected governor and the VA PTA actions, as well as your group's, helped make that a reality. I was planning on resigning anyway since I am taking a spot in his campaign. I would like you all to keep up the good work, we'll just get the word out about what you do, and we'll get a big win for the midterm election."

So HJ didn't really care about the school or the students. The presidency was just a stepping stone for him. And for all the east and south Asians who think that he and his mates are going to help your students - you and your kids appear to just be pawns of their political party. They will use you and then drop you - as will the rich businessmen who are elected by/for the party.

Please do not for one second think that people like this have your kids' best interests at heart

I respectfully disagree. You clearly do not know him.

Maybe, but why would anyone post something as political as the above if politics wasn't a large part of their agenda?

You premise was he didn't really care about the school or students when he ran for, and was elected, PTA president. I believe it was recent events over the summer and this Fall that led him to decide to pursue a role where he believes he could actually help influence policy in a manner he believes will help students and schools statewide. Let be honest, PTA president of a high school is hardly a powerful position that does much other than influence and organize bake sales.

Don't think that jives with being the PTA president at TJ, pretty sure it has some level of influence tied with it. If he wasn't involved in politics he wouldn't post so much of this type of stuff, and would keep his views mostly to himself.

+1

If that were true, it’d be a d1ck move to shift his energies away from the PTSA while still president. He should have resigned and let someone take over who is going to focus on the PTSA business, not external politics.

But I’m not convinced his motives were so pure when he ran.

Can you take your private baseball to a group chat? So tired of TJ parents anonymously shitting all over each other in public. At this point I wish they’d just shut the magnet down and let normal people enjoy the school again.

HJ gets why there is such small number of students of color minus Asian (borrowed from UMD) at TJ. It was not because what another group of brown people did. The key reason is there aren't enough minority students at the honor geometry class in 8th grade. HJ was elected by parents not organizing bake sales.

If he can make bigger impact by resigning, good for him. The new president needs to keep her promise and only focus on bake sales.

I have no idea what this is referring to, would be lovely if someone can translate the meaning of this post.

We warned you that the whole TJ thing was a rightwing authoritarian political project, designed to tear down American democracy to make mediocre white conservatives feel better than other people.

Just read the first page of this thread:

This is a great video to watch to understand what happened with Thomas Jefferson, orchestrated by rightwingers:

The absolute best section is the mashup where he cuts to like 10 different fake average parents, and it turns out they're all affiliated with Koch or Heritage in some way.

"All the fake average parents on Fox are from New York or Virginia, huh! Why?

BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE ALL THE POLITICAL CONSULTANTS LIVE"

Amazing.

You want to read how insane these people are, read this substack

Because a non-Harry aligned candidate overwhelmingly won the PTSA vote, that means the PTSA has been taken over by a non-democratic mob?

Please all parents, please note what just happened here:

- Rightwing Republicans, backed by Republican media, took up the cause of Asians
- Republicans used that to sue TJ, sow strife and divide the students and parents
- Republicans’ real agenda was to advance GOP candidates not help TJ
- Now that the election is over, the activists drop it, and posters say “Too much chaos! Abolish TJ!”

This is EXACTLY the standard GOP billionaire playbook: take things they don’t like, make them work poorly, then use this as evidence to get rid of them.

Don’t let GOP billionaires take valuable institutions from you. Fight the GOP and rightwing activists. They did not care about Asians and they do not care about you.
