Hello! I am new to this area and looking for a good
Chinese food takeout restaurant. We live in Bethesda. Any recommendations? Thank you! |
| I like Mayflower. We order online and delivery is always quick. |
| We like House of Foong Lin. |
| Wang Dynasty! Get the Dan Dan noodles. |

We only ever order the Peking duck with pancakes and fried rice (no idea if it's authentic or not) at Mayflower. My kids LOVE it. One of them has anaphylactic allergies to peanuts and tree nuts, so we've always been very careful with certain Asian cuisines. |
| We like Bambu in the Palisades neighborhood of DC, close to Bethesda. They have Thai and Japanese options as well. |
| Second vote for Foong Lin. |
| Bob's Shanghai 66 is in Rockville but it's worth the extra drive. |
| Meiwah in Chevy Chase |
You might not care about this, but Chinese, Thai and Japanese are VERY different cuisines. A restaurant that makes all three is bound not to have authentic recipes. It's one thing to create Asian-fusion dishes and call them what they are. Quite another to pretend they can cook any type of Asian cuisine. |

| Q by Peter Chang is excellent, but very expensive. |
| Joe’s Noodle House in Rockville. |
| We like City Lights on Bethesda Ave |
Yes, I’m VERY aware of that, and am laughing at the thought of Bethesda as a destination for authentic Chinese food. If I’m in the mood for authentic Chinese food, I ask one of my Chinese friends if they want to come with me to one of their favorites in Rockville so they can order off the Chinese only portion of the menu for the table. Q by Peter Chang is good in Bethesda, but pricier than most of the other options. Their food is so much better in person than takeout as well. IMO, non-authentic Chinese food can be very tasty too, and I think Bambu offers fresher and tastier versions of it than Foong Lin, Mayflower, or some of the other Bethesda options on here, though each restaurant named here has some good things on their menu. Their non-authentic Thai food is good too, and better than most of the other non-authentic Thai places in Bethesda. They are not the best for sushi or Japanese items. |
