| Have you ever dated an artist? Are they flaky or self absorbed in general? This one is financially secure so that’s not a concern. |
| Are you the same person who asked about musicians? |

The truth is profession doesn’t dictate personality, OP. I’ve met very rational, level-headed artists and very dramatic and self-aggrandizing scientists. |
Stop judging guys on their profession and stereotyping. It sounds like YOU are worried this ONE guy is flaky and self-absorbed and that is a deal breaker for you. When some other girl comes on here asking "does he (or she) love and respect me?", she'll find happiness. |
No |
| A financially secure artist will be working all the time. Understand their drive and hours may be different than your own. Be prepared to adapt. |
| Financially secure like monthly trust fund allowance? |

What difference does it make? Wouldn’t it be more relevant for you to figure out of your particular artist is flaky or self-absorbed or whatever generalization it is that you’re concerned about?
I agree with PP that it’s not like having a 9-5 job that you don’t care about very much. For many artists, when they’re on a roll or in the middle of working on something, it becomes a major focus. Often, they really can’t stop what they’re doing and come back to it later. I don’t view that as either flaky or self-absorbed, though, and I think anyone who’s passionate about their work or passionate about other interests will be able to relate to this. |
| Typically they are looking for patrons if not already successful commercially. Male artists are some of the most exploitive assholes I have ever known, and I used to work at an artists agency. |
| You mean a Fartist? |
Hunter? |

My husband is a painter, he is level headed, very thoughtful, smart, driven, and is very handy around the house (he puts studios and canvases together haha so he loves to to keep with electrical work and joint compound etc).
Artists show you who they are quickly I feel like they can’t hide themselves as good as let’s say a corporate director that needs to adapt. I do think they see the world differently and value small things I wouldn’t even consider or think about which is both a challenge and a positive trait. I adore art so we’re a good match just make sure you’re part of his world a bit too and try to understand. / respect their art. |
| I dated and married a writer. He's just a normal guy, except he takes a while to come out of his head at the end of his work day. He usually stops work and goes to walk the dog to get that decompression time. By the time he comes back with the dog, he's ready to engage. |
Who is Hunter?! Two people mentioned him.... |
Yet all fat women get lumped together. Got it. |
