What does one expect? It's football not academics, promoting violence is normal that's why it's a frequent problem at many schools.

How do you expect leadership to perfectly control it? If a school's identity is mainly based around sports and football, you will naturally get some amount of violence, no matter how much security and staff are on site.

My HS had sports and there wasn't any violence, so this is very new to me. Our school had a reputation as being a 'good' school in an affluent area, and coaches, principals, etc, expected us to conduct ourselves well on and off the field.

i remember having an all out brawl in elm street park in about 2005/2006 lol there was like 25-30 kids brawling. bethesda used to be fun

Expectation and reality are not the same. A friend moved out of an affluent area after her neighbor’s DD was drugged and raped by football players. It became a big cover up because they were “good boys” with “promising futures”. My friend realized her own DDs were only two years away from HS and was terrified.

More BCC and WJ, etc parents need to step up and be involved and aware of where their kids are, who they are with, and instill and promote positive values and behaviors. This isn’t the schools’ job when things happened off campus.

Yeah, but how about also promoting a more academic environment and less jock culture in high school? Most of the violence directly stems from this type of sports culture mentality. You never see this happening after a non-sports event.

The only people who go to the plays are parents and the boyfriends of the actors.
