Has Your House been Discussed on DCUM?

Anonymous
Just curious as this is a very active forum so I would have to think that more than one DCUM'er has had their home discussed on here before, when it was listed for sale/sold.

Yep. My husband asked if I started the thread.

FWIW I did not start the thread.

Thankfully(?) most commenters had the same thoughts/concerns we had and might have been why we were the only offer and got our house under list price last fall.

Yes. You hated it and I paid too much

No, but when selling, I was worried someone would post it on here and it would be torn to shreds and it would never sell, etc.

Yes. Old house. People said it was listed too high.

Turns out it wasn't.

No, but I was once discussing the merits and demerits of living on a particular street and another poster freaked out on me and called me names because I'd been critical of the street (it's a very busy street with a ton of bus/truck traffic and a lot of loitering, and I would not want to live there). I feel confident it was the poster's street because the reaction was incredibly personal even though my comments were not at all.

I always think of them when discussing real estate on the forum now and will sometimes be more balanced in an assessment so as not to offend someone.

Someone once posted a pic of it here but the comments were favorable.

Yes. People said there were foundation issues. There were not!

Yes. Turns out lots of people wanted my house. But I'm the one who got it!

No, but when we were selling our condo it got featured on PoPville. I assume our realtor made that happen?

Yes. My previous home was discussed in the H St/Capitol Hill thread when I put it on the market. The person who commented suggested it was overpriced. It ended up selling for ~$75k above listing price.

No, but I know if it was people would tear it apart.

There is one I walk past all the time that gets posted as an example of an ugly mcmansion. I've seen it in person and it's fine; not choices I would make, necessarily, but not even close to the ugliest house on that street. I wonder sometimes if the owners are aware it's on DCUM.

No and I’m shocked it was spared since it was ugly and in a hot neighborhood. I still miss that place.

I posted a house I liked. When it went back on the market six months later we put in an offer which was accepted but pulled it over serious issue in inspection.

No, but I solicited opinions on my neighbor's house, which is very similar to mine.
