Va Tech 2021 Admissions Profile

Has the VA Tech admissions profile been released for the current class? I have seen a page on its site saying it is coming soon but in another thread someone noted that a sizable percentage of those waitlisted last year were admitted. Where is that data?
Thanks.

I was the one who posted that, but I inadvertently posted Fall 2020 numbers, which themselves had ridiculously large waitlist admits. (Fall 2021 are not out yet) But I have heard that the WL was even more used in Fall 2021 admits, so it doesn't change the story much. VTs enrollment management creates a lot of angst, serves their purpose of raising their reputation, but rarely shuts qualified students out because it still has a higher acceptance rate than other similar caliber schools.
So, sorry for the error, but I think the story remains the same.

3.98 GPA?!?! That's unweighted? You basically need all As to have the average GPA at VA Tech???? It's not even a top 25 school. What in the world???

Well, we’re in LCPS and that’s the only GPA they report. I suspect other school districts are similar.

In the SCHEV link it's clear the GPAs are weighted since some are above 4.0. And that shows the VT median GPA was 4.0.

Per Common Data Set, 75% of last years incoming freshman class had GPA 3.75-5.0 and the average was 3.98.

When you consider that many school districts only prepare weighted GPA it’s not that surprising.

Loudoun county is one of those with very inflated GPAs. They give honors bumps for music and band etc. and have un- timed tests and multiple retakes.

All school districts, not just Loudoun. And I don’t know where you get “multiple retakes” from. You may get one retake and your score is capped at 80.

47 states and 51 different countries is cool. Especially when foreign applications dropped nationwide recently. I understand it could be only one kid from each country, but bringing the wider world in there is valuable. Also, for all of the concerns about limited experiences with diversity, when a foreign parent posts for help on the parent Facebook page, a Virginia parent usually offers help. It’s kind of amazing to see, and I’m not a VT booster.

I looked up VA Tech in my son's private HS scattergram. I picked the students who were admitted closest to my son's current stats. These are weighted GPAs. It really depends on your school/school district and whether you are in-state or out-of-state.

GPA: 3.45
SAT: 1160
ACT: 20

Application: Early Action
