Wow.

New Jersey’s longtime state Senate president, Democrat Steve Sweeney lost reelection, falling to a Republican newcomer who spent little money and underscoring Democratic woes in the Biden era. Edward Durr, a furniture company truck driver and first-time officeholder, defeated Sweeney in New Jersey’s 3rd Legislative District, according to results tallied Thursday.

Yep. The fact that the Dem party hasn't wised up and pulled a hard 180 to get back to moderate territory fast is just amazing to me.

*Correction

But this year, Durr defeated him, spending $2,300, according to an Election Law Enforcement Commission document filed online on Thursday. Earlier reports had shown he had spent just $153.31 on his campaign.

Just watch - NJ Democrats will make up some BS about him not being elected “fairly”. Can’t have an ordinary, truck-driving guy in such a position of responsibility!

I wonder how much free advertising he got off his lie about spending $153.

I love this guy.

“I’m just Ed Durr,” he said. “I’m nobody special. I ran for office and I defeated a gentleman who happened to be in office a long time. What I want people to know is, I’m a real person, and that’s the bottom line.”

It wasn’t a lie, but nice try. That was from his preliminary campaign-finance disclosure. By the end of his campaign, he had spent $2313.70.

Mr. Durr lit up social media this week with the detail that his campaign cost just $153, according to preliminary campaign finance disclosures, which showed about half the money was spent at Dunkin’. Amended filings posted late Wednesday show his committee spent $2,313.70—far less than the $1,061,957 that Mr. Sweeney’s committee spent on polls, advertisements, consultants and fliers.

Um.

It’s Republicans who have been screaming and rioting about someone not being elected “fairly.”

Um. Interesting that you completely ignore all the Democrats here in DCUM-land, insinuating that Youngkin couldn’t *possibly* have won fairly. Delusional. No doubt the same thing will happen with Durr.

It’s true though. This man is just an uneducated blue collar rube. He has no idea how to represent a constituency. He has no understanding of law. I can virtually guarantee he’s never read “Roberts Rules of Order” and therefore has zero understanding of parliamentary procedures in a legislative body. He’s just a ordinary Joe Simpleton. Exactly the wrong sort of person who should be in politics. The fact that he “won” an election without even mounting a campaign is proof he’s unfit for office.

Oh noes people are posting on a mommy website? Should they attack the Capitol instead to show that they’re serious?

In Jersey all the Republicans are the ones complaining about nonexistent “fraud” in Murphy’s victory.

The elitism of the left is nauseating. Hope to see more people like Mr. Durr run.

And this kind of thing is of course essential to proper representation of constituents
