High school boy get together ideas

Anonymous
I’m trying to get my teen to meet up with friends more often. All the get togethers for a year have been online. He has a birthday this month and has been in school long enough to make some new friends and see old ones but still hesitates to go out again. What are some Covid friendly low cost activities he could consider in the DMV?

I would keep it outside. Some families are still cautious.

My teens are pretty happy hanging out on a deck with friends and they have on hand a frisbie, football, basketball or whatever if they want to be more active.

Most places require masks - just like in school. Winter is coming so eventually outside get togethers aren’t going to be realistic.

Outdoor firepit, bonus if you have a space with a TV and gaming system outside, even if you set it up just for the one night for the party. My boys had friends over all last winter and will do more of the same playing video games, watching sports, etc.

I second paintball.

Its a little pricey, but they'll have a crazy amount of outdoor distanced fun

Seriously? Will the kids freeze to death? We spend time outdoors through the year unless there is ice. Wear a coat and hat. Fresh air and nature are good for the mind and body.

Markoffs Haunted Forest is a lot of fun for teens - they could go back to your house after and have pizza by firepit.

Ski at Whitetail or Liberty when it snows. We just got a season pass.

LAN party if they game. Watch a sports event/game then allow for something outside - football or soccer as an example.
