| I don't have a Costco membership, but my mechanic recommended Costco for new tires. Is it worth the membership fee for tires, or should I just go to a smaller tire place? (Car is a 2016 Mazda CX-5) |
| I recommend verifying that they have the tires you want first. The tire selection is very limited and they did not carry the tires for my car. |
| just go to tire rack |
| Costco membership is worth it just for the gas savings. |

They take forever. Not worth it IMO.
Radial tire company in Silver Spring is a great choice. |

if you know someone with a costco membership, you can go online and get a price quote for the tires you want and take it to discount tire for a price match.
my daughter did this this month. |

From my personal experience with Costco tire service for 2 cars (sedan and minivan) in VA,
- Installation took 2 hours each with appointment - Tire rotation took 1.5 hour with appointment - They lost one of my wheel-lock nuts (minivan) and didn't tell me. I got the car back around dusk, so didn't notice it until a few weeks after. - One of the sedan's tires keeps losing air, I have to pump some air every 2-3 days. Took it in, they determined it's the valve, changed it, and a few days later, same problem. I'm dreading about taking it in again due to long wait. Next time I'll take my car to NTB or one of the other tire places. |
Maybe a dumb question but where do you get gas at Costco? I've only ever been to the Pentagon City one and I don't think they have gas? |

Do you have a friend with a Costco membership?
Discount Tire will match Costco’s prices if you get a printout of the price from Costco. I imagine other large chains might as well. Not sure if you can price their tires online, but I do know that appointments for the tire department are recommended. If Costco is close to you, their gas prices have been way lower where I live this year, probably enough to be worth the membership with the amount of driving my family does. |
They don’t have gas. |
They do in Frederick MD. |
| They do take forever and it’s stressful. I don’t go there for tire rotation anymore even though it’s free. But I have hit a couple curbs and gotten the tires replaced for like 15 bucks so i was really happy about that. Plus sometimes they have great sales. To me it’s worth the inconvenience. I drop my car off and go to the library. |
Most suburbian Costcos have gas. |
| Give Tirerack.com a try - they'll come to your home (or business) and replace your tires onsite. That's worth whatever they want to charge me. |
Down Rt 1 in Mt Vernon. Not worth the drive depending on where you live though |
